Warranty: 2 years
This model, the Ultima 65 is the most compact model in our Ultima series spotting scopes, the 65 mm refractor features either a 45 degree viewing angle or a straight through viewing position, and excellent mulit-coated optics packed into a portable and durable refractor design and it comes standard with an 18-55x zoom eyepiece.
Ultima Series spotters perform extremely well under all light conditions which makes them ideal for all types of outdoor viewing activities including bird watching, nature and wildlife, target shooting – even astronomy.
The Ultimas are as great to look at as they are to look through. Their sleek design is accented with graceful contours that make them easy to hold and handle.
The Ultima Series spotters are the perfect choice for the outdoor enthusiast looking for a spotter with quality design and construction, superior optics, and versatility at an affordable price.
As with all non ED Celestron Ultima refracting spotting scopes (65mm, 80mm, and 100mm), the design of the main objective lens permits the image at all powers to be surprisingly low in chromatic aberration (colour fringing). This one feature alone is remarkable for an achromatic spotting scope at this price, and places the achromatic Ultimas as a benchmark product in this respect.
We feel that at such budget prices, the waterproof 65mm, 80mm and 100mm achromatic spotting scopes easily represent the premier position in their respective class, and out-perform many of the much more expensive spotting scopes. Indeed, the 80mm achromatic Ultima has already been successful in winning a group test in the BBC Sky at Night magazine.

A budget priced achromatic spotting scope available in both angled and straight through models, that has very low levels of chromatic aberration for an achromat. These Ultima scopes are complete with 18-55X zoom eyepiece only, however, the eyepiece has a t-thread under the rubber eyecup, which can be threaded into a t-adapter for dSLR eyepiece projection photography. As usual with our selection of spotting scopes, there is little else to recommend at or near this price, that has the optical performance of the Ultimas. This is a great choice for a young birder starting out on a budget, or a great second telescope for the glove compartment in the car, for those birds that you see when you have left your main scope and tripod at home. These scopes are also useful for aircraft spotting. They are light enough to be hand held at lower magnifications at an airshow or outside an airbase, and only require a lightweight tripod for greater stability. Although not filled with nitrogen gas, these scopes can still be used in the rain. The vulnerable joins on the scope body are sealed with an oiled rubber o-ring.
For aircraft spotting without a tripod, choose the straight through model. Its easier to follow a moving aircraft if the orientation of the head is the same as the axis of the scope. For birding, if most of your time will be spent in hides, choose the straight .
