Also the tube length has been slightly shortened to optimise performance for prime-focus photography. Even better performance for astro-photography and visual use can be achieved when used in combination with Sky-Watcher’s Newtonian coma corrector (Prod.Code 20233).

Our view   

An economical way of starting out in astrophotography. A 150mm f/5 Newtonian with a dual speed focuser. Use a coma corrector for removing off-axis coma from wide-field images.


Ignore the ‘shortened tube’ bit mentioned above. We want to increase tube length a little at the top of the tube by adding a matt black dewshield of about 250mm long. This will help cool the tube quicker by helping to draw cool air up past the primary mirror, and also provide a better baffle for the secondary against contrast-reducing stray light.
